Białołęka is Warsaw’s fastest-growing district — and one of the youngest in terms of demographics. Several thousand new residents arrive every year, many of them families with small children. Yet places in good facilities do not grow at the same pace. If you are typing “Montessori nursery Tarchomin” or “Montessori preschool Białołęka” into a search engine, this article will tell you what to expect from us and who finds their way to MOC Montessori.
Where exactly we are
MOC Montessori is located at ul. Małej Brzozy 12 (03-289 Warsaw), in the Tarchomin and Nowodwory area. This is the northern part of Białołęka — on the right bank of the Vistula, in a quiet, green setting away from busy main roads, but with good access from Modlińska and Mehoffera streets.
Under one roof we run a nursery for children aged 1 to 2.5 and a preschool for children aged 2.5 to 6. For a parent this means one thing no leaflet can buy: the child can move from the nursery to the preschool without changing the building, the faces of the teachers or the rules. The same method, the same environment, the same people — from a crawling one-year-old to a six-year-old ready for school.
Which areas families commute from
Most families come from the immediate neighbourhood, but the area we serve is wider:
- Tarchomin — our closest neighbourhood; most families from this part of Białołęka are a few to a dozen minutes away.
- Nowodwory — the estates along Modlińska and Mehoffera, an easy drive from there.
- Choszczówka and Białołęka Dworska — the quieter, more “house-and-garden” part of the district.
- Nowy Dwór, Tarchomin Kościelny, Wiśniewo — surrounding areas families also commute from.
- Targówek and Bródno — the neighbouring district to the south, on the same side of the Vistula, with no river crossing.
We also see families from Żoliborz who choose us despite crossing the river — usually because they were specifically looking for authentic Montessori, not a “Montessori-inspired” facility. We explain the difference in a separate guide: How to choose a Montessori nursery — 12 points.
Why Białołęka parents choose Montessori over the nearest nursery
The nearest is not always the best for the child. Parents who come to us are usually looking for three things.
Independence instead of doing things for the child
In our classroom one-year-olds pour their own water from a glass jug, put away their plate after a meal and take their coat off a hook at their own height. This is not a showy demonstration — it is the everyday reality that builds a child’s sense of agency. A three-year-old who can dress themselves enters preschool with a completely different confidence.
Staff who truly know the method
The word “Montessori” is not legally protected in Poland — any facility can use it. That is why our teachers hold real certificates: Montessori 0–3 courses (Centrum Edukacji Montessori) and 6–9 education (Polski Instytut Montessori), as well as relevant degrees. Tuition also includes a psychologist and a speech therapist — with no extra fees and no need to find a specialist on your own.
Calm and predictability
A nursery group has a maximum of 21 children, with a ratio of one carer to seven children. The day has a steady rhythm, and the environment is prepared so that the child can choose an activity and work in concentration. We describe what such a day looks like here: A day in a Montessori nursery.
From our experience
Białołęka parents most often ask about two things: adaptation and food. Our adaptation is gradual and tailored to the child — a parent can stay in the room. Meals are prepared by the "Smaki Babci Dany" catering service, and we accommodate allergies and diets. These are two topics worth discussing in person during a visit.
What it costs and what about subsidies
Nursery tuition is reduced by the government’s Active Parent programme (“active parents at work”), which subsidises childcare for children aged 12–35 months. You will find the current terms and amounts at ZUS — and we will help you work out what applies to your family. How to check us before enrolling
You do not have to take our word for it. Before you decide:
- Come for a visit — see the classroom, the materials and the teachers in action. What tells you the most is how the children work when no one is watching them.
- Check the registers — we are in the Warsaw Register of Nurseries (no. 24481/Z) and in RSPO (no. 478997). This is a basic step that should never be skipped.
- Read the reviews — we are rated 4.7 from 40 Google reviews. Look for specifics about adaptation and contact with teachers, not generalities.
